Two weeks later the first Vacation Bible School was held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with many classes outside in the shade.

Wendell Jacobson goes from Mission Developer to firs Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church when he installed on September 13th, 1959. On the same day the parsonage is dedicated in the afternoon.

Cutting Pear TreesIn 1961 five acres of pear orchard is purchased for the site of the new church building. Members cut down the pear trees and sell the firewood in preparation of building. The groundbreaking ceremony takes place on August 26, 1962 at the corner of Sunset and Minnesota avenues, now 56th and Lincoln. The new church building in dedicated on March 3, 1963 with more than 500 people attending the three services held that day.
After seven years in Yakima Pastor Jacobson accepts a call in Portland, Oregon and Pastor James Seiffert becomes the second pastor of Christ Lutheran Church on August 15, 1965 and serves until 1971.

In May of 1972 Pastor Steve Morrison is installed as the third pastor at Christ Lutheran and serves until June of 1976.

Pastor Al Harness in installed as the fourth pastor of Christ Lutheran in June of 1976. In 1980 construction begins on additional space with includes the Narthex and some office space. In 1981 the mortgage on the original building is burned. more...
