| Christ Lutheran Church was founded in 1959
and is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church In America (ELCA).
Our services begin at 9:30 AM every Sunday with child care available.
Worship includes readings from the bible, music led by the Worship Team,
sermons from PastorJillian Ross, and prayer. The highlight of the service
is communion, the body and blood of Christ in the form of bread and wine
(grape juice is also available) and everyone is welcome to receive it.
Coffee and cookies are served after the worship service so that everyone
can enjoy a few minutes of socializing before leaving to start their week
refreshed in the word of God. Adult Sunday school begins at 8:30 AM and
Sunday school for the children is at 9:40 AM. There is an active youth
group at Christ Lutheran and they meet several times during the month
for fellowship and to serve the community and the congregation.
Reaching out to the community is a focus of the members of Christ Lutheran. Led by our Social Ministry committee we do special projects each year. The highlight of these is Thanksgiving Food Baskets that are delivered to families in need in our community (52 families served in 2008) and the Angel Tree in December where Christ Lutheran provides gifts for children in the Yakima area that might not otherwise have anything to open on Christmas. We also enjoy spending time together outside the Sunday Worship setting. The Fellowship committee plans events for each month that bring us together in a casual atmosphere. The activities include attending a Yakima Bear’s game, riding bikes on the greenway, bowling, BBQs after church, and pinochle parties to name a few. We are always looking for a reason to get together and share a laugh. Christ Lutheran Church is located at the corner of 56th and Lincoln avenues. There are bible studies weekly, a quilters group, a Boy Scout troop that uses the building, and much more. Visitors are always welcome and are a blessing to us, and we hope to be a blessing to them.
